Seven academic music therapy programs (i.e., Florida State University, University of Louisville, University of Kentucky, University of Alabama, West Virginia University, University of Missouri – Kansas City, and Drury University) specialized in research and evidence-based practice benefiting young children and their families have formed a collaboration. The purpose of this network is
- to expand and promote quality music therapy research and clinical programs in the area of early childhood,
- to provide linkages, referrals, information, and services to children with disabilities and their families,
- to disseminate information about the benefits of Early Childhood Music Therapy, and
- to provide specialized training and resources to music therapists and early childhood professionals in evidence-based music therapy interventions with infants and children related to child development, medicine, special education, hospice, and mental health.
